Are we living or our 'past Me' is living in the present?
We are interested only in the pleasure of life. We must be serious about the root cause of life. Seriousness means continuous attention to it. The more serious one is more mature. Maturity is possible only when there is a deep understanding of ourselves. Understanding should be without wasting time. This requires seriousness. So the serious attention brings maturity and understanding immediately.
Each one of us has created our own image and also others images in our brain. These psychological images of men, women and pleasure create a hindrance to perceive what is actually happening right now. We are living with images which are a dead thing. To live with living things, one must be alive at all times.
When one is serious, and wants to see the totality, observe life like a snake in your room. Observing the mind and living with what is, the mind becomes quiet and it can see what is happening right now. Quiet mind cannot be cultivated.
Who is the observer? Is he a living thing or a past dead entity?
When we observe a tree we observe its information stored in our memory. Tree and its movement is a living thing. And we, the observer looking at the living tree with past information, is also a past. Observer is the past, looking at the present with past accumulated knowledge. So our past observer is actually not looking at the living tree but is busy reading the contents of the past memory. Therefore the observer is the observed, the past. This is a very serious thing to understand, because this is the real meditation. This is very difficult to capture in words.
For any individuals who do not understand how the observer is the observed, there is always division between observer and observed. This division creates conflicts in their life. Their Observer Me always identifies with the things he observed, gets attached to them and creates loneliness and sorrow. All are caught in this vicious cycle.
Knowing an observer has greater value than identification with observed. Observer is our true self, he is not just our past knowledge but is also the dead thing. When we say I know, this 'I' is our past image. Our past self is living in the present and dreaming about the future. Future dreams are also part of the past observer! Psychological Yesterday, today and tomorrow are all part of past knowledge. In this past state of mind we live with living present. Mind is always translating the new with the old. Therefore the mind everlastingly lives in conflicts, jealousy, anxiety. As long as there is this conflict and division, there is no true love in life.
True love has nothing to do with sex, pleasure and desire. Pleasure goes with fear, the mind lives with fear and always seeks pleasure, pleasure increases fear.
When there is no pleasure, no desire, there is Actual True Love.
